Camp Fundraiser at Madra Rua June 4th

Horse lovers! Come support Rose Court Farms young riders at a fundraiser on Tuesday, June 4th, 4:00-10:00, at Madra Rua in Summerville.  We want to help send them to Southern Winds Equestrian Camp. Madra Rua will be holding a silent auction, offering beer and food specials, and supporting our riders. For $6 you can get a 20oz Pint of Yuengling and an order of 8 wings. Also, the Charleston Spine Center will be offering free chair massages. All the riders who wish to get funding for camp will be helping to clean up and serve food.  What's not to like about that?

Equestrian sports are expensive. And not everyone can afford the high costs. Many of our Rose Court Farm riders and their families make sacrifices to cover board, pay for lessons, and provide equipment so they can participate in this sport.  Many young riders work at the farm to help pay for their riding expenses.  But, sometimes, even this is not enough. Extra costs, like summer camps, can push the budget too far.  You can make a big difference in the life of a horse-loving girl.  If you can't come to the fundraiser, please visit our donation page and make a donation!

Our silent auction will begin at 6:00 and close at 8:00.  We will announce the winners and give away the prizes then.  We have a number of great items we will be auctioning off.  The local businesses that have donated items include:
  • All is Well
  • Black Bottom Stables
  • Charleston Spine Center
  • DV8 Salon and Spa
  • Recycled Cowboy
  • Rose Court Farms
  • Venus Flytrap Designs
  • Madra Rua - Summerville
You can find pictures of the items and descriptions below.

You can will see this great gift basket in the silent auction from DV8 Salon and Spa. DV8 says of themselves, "Our goal is to pamper you from head to toe and to bring out your individual, natural beauty. The experienced and talented staff members at Salon and Spa DV8 are among the most qualified in the industry."

The gift basket includes a Paul Mitchell limited edition flat iron and smoothing brush ($120); Paul Mitchell shampoo and conditioner set ($15); OPI nail polish gift set ($15); OPI lotion ($12); Dermalogica skin care products ($25): and $40 gift card for salon or spa. Total value? $227. You can bid on this June 4th at Madra Rua!

The Recycled Cowboy is also providing a gift basket.  They put together a creative "basket," using a food scoop as the basket and filling it up with horse grooming supplies.  Total value?  $50.  You will also be able to bid on this at the auction.

Have you never been by the Recycled Cowboy?  They say,

"Tired of spending a fortune Fer that genuine Western look? Then hitch a ride or saddle on up.... Come on over to our store and have a look!!!  We Buy, Trade, Barter and Consign."

You can find saddles and horse gear there, too, and they also sell feed.  A good place to shop for your westerns wear, though they also have some English tack, too.

Rachel Aikman is providing two sets of etched glassware for the auction. One set will include a wine and pint glass, and it will have the Rose Court Farms logo on it.  The other set (also wine and pint glasses) will have the Madra Rua fox on it.  Each set is valued at $50.  Rachel is an artist and student at Trident Technical College who produces etched glassware.  She says of herself, "I am a local artist, and my life's passion is to create beautiful things for the world to enjoy, in traditional art, and handmade crafts."  If you would like your own glassware with the Rose Court Farms logo (or another image), you can contact Rachel at (843) 499-0453 to place an order.  You can see more of her work on her Facebook page, Venus Flytrap Designs.

All Is Well, A Groomer’s Secret Salon opened on Trolley Rd, Summerville, April 2007.  The owners, Annette and Christina Clark, say of their business:

"We began as a home based grooming business in 1999. We studied nutrition, allergies and how our environment can adversely affect our pets. In doing so we formulated Groomer’s Secret, our own line of all natural shampoo, conditioners and hot spot treatment. For years we successfully worked with our clients concerning their pet’s allergies. In 2007 we decided to open as a “one stop shop” so to speak. This would enable us to work directly with the public and share the positive outcome that nutrition can play in pet allergies and overall health.

As a grooming salon we have always offered personalized services that cater to the dogs’ wellbeing. We believe that grooming should be a fun, relaxing occasion that is enjoyed by both the dog and groomer. Interaction during grooming should be positive and rewarding.

Holistic pet care is to be inclusive of the ‘whole’ pet; to take into account the mind, body, and spirit of both the pet and the owner. At All is Well, A Groomer’s Secret Salon we create a helpful, stress-free environment to promote positive emotions in both the animals and their owners."

The gift basket they have donated includes pet grooming supplies, treats, a dog bed and more, and is valued at $100.

Arnesa Lind donated this wonderful painting.  She resides in the scenic Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, having earned her Art Education degree from Radford University, and completing a Master’s degree in Education from James Madison University. She has taught art in Augusta County Schools for more than 30 years. Now teaching at Fort Defiance High School (specializing in pottery) and as a Continuing Education Instructor at Blue Ridge Community College, Arnesa continues to enjoy eclectic skills in pottery, watercolor, pastels, metalwork including jewelry, and glass creations. Arnesa finds inspiration in the beautiful vistas around her home where she lives with husband, Carl, and cats, Joey and Max.

Madra Rua will be auctioning off a $100 gift certificate, and they have arranged for a $50 gift certificate to Dick's as well as some great beer-related fun times (lights and more) to be auctioned off.  Who's the best Irish Pub in the Lowcountry?

We have more items coming in, including gift baskets from Black Bottom Tack Shop, Charleston Spine Center, Madra Rua, and more!
