You are invited to join your barn friends at Harvest Fest on John's Island. The main event is Saturday, Nov 1, and you will find bands, food trucks, games for the kids and much more at the Mullet Hall Equestrian Center. We encourage families with children to join the fun on Saturday, horses or no horses.
Some adult riders will be taking horses and camping on Friday night, some will be coming on Saturday with children, others will just be stopping by for the day on Saturday, and still others will be staying the whole weekend. Here is the overall schedule.

Christmas Parade 2012 |
The theme for the parade is "Sweet Southern Christmas," so Rose Court Farms has chosen as its theme: "Horse Dynasty." We will use camoflouge as the cental theme and red as the accent color. Mandy is making horse blankets and leggings for the horses, and we encourage participants to wear jeans, camo shirts, red santa hats, red scarves, and black sunglasses (and beards, if the mood strikes you). Diana and Faith are organizing. We have barn meetings every Monday at Madra Rua. If you'd like to participate, please join us. We will have in the parade:
Harvest Fest Nov 1-3, 2013
Well, it's that time of year again. Harvest Fest. A day festival of food and music for some on Sat, Nov 2nd, a full camping weekend for others. Day visitors are welcome at the Rose Court Farms campsite, so come on down, even if you can't say the whole weekend.
Reminders for Mullet Hall Campers: A big group is hauling out around noon on Friday - other groups througout the day. You will need to bring your official Coggins, water and feed buckets for stall, feed for your horse in baggies, and all your own tack and horse supplies. Rob will bring hay for all Rose Court Farm horses. You will be responsible for the care of your own horse while off property. We will have a potluck dinner Friday night, so you will need your own food to cook on the grill and any sides you want to share for Friday night dinner, bagels/muffins for Sat morning breakfast, drinks and bottled water, and any snacks. Everyone will buy his or her own lunch Saturday at the festival food trucks. Dinner Sat night and breakfast Sun morning are provided by Mullet Hall for $20 per person. Bring a chair for each member of your group and all the camping supplies you will need.

Jun 4th Fundraiser Successful
Rose Court Farms held a fundraiser at
Madra Rua June 4th to raise money to help send girls to horse camp. Over
a hundred people came out for food, drinks, and fun. We had 12 campers working
the room, who did a great job taking orders and serving food. The silent
auction raised $1011. The food and drink sales raised $890. We had individual
donations by boarders who could not attend totaling $600 for individual
scholarships. So, our total from the fundraiser right now is $2501. We
will be providing $150 for each Rose Court Farms camper to help defray the cost
of camp ($500).
Jason Weber, a co-owner of Madra Rua, said that
"Rose Court Farms has always been a loyal supporter of ours, so we were
happy to return the favor. Plus with a daughter who loves horses, it was hard
to say no to a great charity event like this."
Robert Browning, the owner of Rose Court Farms,
supports young riders and wants to see horse sports in the Lowcountry grow. He said, “Our desire is to broaden the equine experience
for those who want to love horses and those who already do.”
This camp is held each year at Broxton Bridge Plantation, nestled on the
Salkehatchie River, located
just south of Walterboro, SC, in a town called Ehrhardt. At this camp, riders practice their skills, play equestrian games, swim with the horses, and learn cooperative and leadership skills. The camp is run by Rose Court Farms instructor Lindsey Loppnow, along with other instructors and assistants. The campers spend their days outside in a natural setting and their nights in an 18th century plantation house. This camp helps them to become better riders, but also better young adults.

Madi Cutts, who attended the camp last year, said
that “I gained more confidence in my riding and myself.” Rachel West, who also
attended last year, said, “I am glad I can go again. I have more to learn.”
If you didn't get a chance to attend, and would still like to help out our campers, you can make a donation on our online donation page.

Middleton Place CT Show a Success
A group of our young riders went to the CT Show at Middleton Place May 26th. For many of the riders, this was their first time riding dressage. However, all did well. A number of Rose Court Farm boarders came out to support our riders, too, and had a great time.
Madi Cutts rode Mac, who distinguished himself in dressage and then ran jumped beautifully (all except one, which he took down, standards and all).
Sarah Calcutt rode Cheyenne, and they did well in dressage, but had difficulty in jumping. Cheyenne had some spectacular refusals, but Sarah did well despite it. Later, they went back into the
ring and jumped for training purposes, and Cheyenne did just fine. Silly horse.
Sarah Hudock rode Reba, and they did well in both dressage and jumping. Anne Bond rode Apollo, and they did well in both dressage and jumping. And Brianna Lane rode Whiskey, and they also did well in both arenas. Reba, Apollo, and Whiskey all had clean jumping rounds. All in all, it was a successful day.
The riders plan to do more CT and full events, and have planned a training day at the Gibbs. Middle Place is planning another CT on July 13th.

Success at March 30th Tall Pines Show
Our young Rose Court Farms riders had a great time at the March 30th Tall Pines Show, and, as you can see from the picture, they brought in the ribbons. Ten horses went, and 15 riders showed what they could do. Lindsey Loppnow and Katie Forcier helped riders dress, tacked up horses, and coached riders in the ring. Lindsey made show bows for the riders, and they all wore them proudly. A number of proud parents and supporters wearing Rose Court Farms t-shirts also attended. Roger West provided a big spiral ham and a turkey breast for sandwiches. Overall, everyone enjoyed themselves. The riders are looking forward to the next show!

Invitation to Attend the March 30th Tall Pines Show
Want to spend a day with your barn family, cheering on our riders? Well, a big group is planning to attend the Tall Pines Horse Show on March 30. Everyone is welcome. Roger West will bring subs for everyone. Rob Browning will bring his big trailer with the awning so we can get out of the sun. And Linsdey Loppnow will be hauling her nine horse trailer, which, in addition to other trailers, should provide plenty of room to bring horses along. Katie Forcier and her students will also be attending. We encourage everyone to bring a side or drinks to share, as well as a chair so you can watch the show in comfort.
If you want to bring along your horse, you should sign up in the front tack room on the big white board. You will see a list of names already started. This way, we will know how many trailer slots we will need. The going rate is $50 per trailer slot.
When I checked the list Monday night, this was who had signed up. I will keep checking the list, or you can leave a comment on the Facebook page to let me know to add you to this blog. I will update on a regular basis.
